June is almost here, and for the LGBTQIA+ community, that means Pride month approaches. Depending on where you are in the country, Pride celebrations can be scorchingly hot (Los Angeles, bring your sunscreen) or shockingly cold (San Fran, what gives!), but one thing that they all have in common is that you need to aggressively hydrate if you want to be able to make it through the day’s activities and go out at night. That’s where Starbucks comes in handy, and to make sure that all of us fabulous members of the queer community stay thirst-quenched and caffeinated this June, they’re releasing a Starbucks Pride Cup.
Starbucks is totally on a roll with their rainbow merchandise, and people were going totally gaga over some of their recent cup releases. But this cup isn’t just rainbow — it also says “Love” in big, bold letters, in case anyone was wondering what you stand for.
These cups mean business. They’re the same double-walled plastic tumblers the chain is famous for, and I can verify that they’ll keep your drinks cold for a shockingly long while. The cups retail for $16.95, and hopefully they stocked enough that these ones don’t wind up on eBay for $100+ any time soon (here’s looking at you, other rainbow cups).
The Starbucks Rainbow Pride Cups will only be available while supplies last, but apparently, the chain has more in store to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Pride month.
The company is also sure to point out that they aren’t just celebrating Pride with merchandise. “In addition to health benefits for partners in LGBTQ relationship, the company has also supported partners who are transgender or considering transitioning, and even broadened health care coverage to include gender [confirmation] surgery,” a rep for the company said in an email.
Pride tumblers will be rolling out to a Starbucks near you this week, so keep your eyes peeled!
