Stroke avoid: Six measures with which to protect your vessels

Blood transports oxygen and nutrients to the organs to the brain. Important for a smooth Transport open, elastic vessels. Clogged a vessel, hardens it, or a tear, can be dangerous. A clogged artery leading to the brain can trigger a stroke.

Martin hall is the Medical Director of the center for prevention and sports medicine of the technical University of Munich. He announced six measures to protect their vessels. In order to not only prevent a stroke in the brain, but also protect all the other organs.

1. Eat colorful

There are substances that make tomatoes red, eggplant purple and Apple green. The so-called polyphenols lend fruits and vegetables their color. Our cells have a protective mechanism that explains vascular doctor Martin hall. He recommends dishes from as many different vegetables together and make for a colorful mix on the plate.

2. Avoid saturated fatty acids

Saturated fatty acids are “rigid”, mono-unsaturated fatty acids are “pliable,” explains hall simplified. Similarly, the vessels behave, when we eat: Saturated fatty acids hardening of the walls of the vessel, unsaturated fatty acids make it more elastic.

Therefore they tend to be unsaturated fatty acids from olive oil, rapeseed oil or sunflower oil instead of products, such as Butter or Lard, contain saturated fatty acids. Also, fish, legumes and whole grains contain unsaturated fatty acids.

3. You maintain a normal weight

Fat tissue secretes inflammatory substances into the blood. This can damage the inner layer of the vessels. It is therefore important to maintain a healthy weight. If your Body-Mass Index in the normal range is, you will find with the following formula: (body weight/height)2

Enter the body weight in kilograms and height in metres. The result should be between 18.5 and 24.9. Then you are a normal weight.

4. You Are Doing Sports

Sport provides elastic vessels. The increased pulse stretches the vessels for a short period of time. The sets of chemical processes, the repair of broken cells in the vascular wall. So sports not only prevents the injured vessels, but it can also heal.

Martin hall recommends two walks per day or an intense workout from seven to ten minutes, unless you get a real sweat.

5. Stop Smoking

Nicotine enters our body, the blood vessels. This is already happening in the case of a single cigarette, warns vascular expert Martin hall. Certain body will be properly perfused. The cigarette is smoked, dilate the vessels, however, nicotine is also harmful in the long term. It attacks the inner layer of the vessels, holes and scars.

6. Pay attention to your blood pressure

In hypertension, the blood is pumped with increased pressure against the walls of the vessel. They can knock down. You should therefore check your blood pressure with a measuring device and talk with your doctor about the blood pressure lowering agent, if you have permanently elevated blood pressure.
