I am a 13 year old male, and one of my nipples is maturing while the other one is staying the same. Should I be concerned or will it take time?

Thanks for your question. During puberty, your body changes in lots of different ways. Sometimes this can mean that one nipple can grow faster than the other. They should become more symmetric over the next 6-12 months. You should see your health care provider if:

  • You notice your chest hurts
  • You notice a bump or lump on your chest
  • You have discharge from your nipple
  • You notice that your skin is dimpled or red on your chest

You can also speak to your health care provider about your specific concerns.
