Figuring out what to get your mom on Mother’s Day is tricky. After all, how do you sum up all the love and affection you have for the woman who raised you in just one gift? Well, KFC is offering a customizable “Chickendales” video as an option, and … it’s something.
Here’s the deal: You go to Chickendales.com to create a special Mother’s Day video for your mom. You enter in some basic info—like your mom’s name and where she lives—then you see a brief ad about a special KFC treat in your area. And then … it gets truly epic.
A video is generated based on the information you gave, and it features a bizarre mishmash of the Colonel and Chippendales. “Oh howdy, Mom,” he says, giving the camera face, before ripping off his shirt (as one does). “I hear you’re the best mom in the world. Well, what do you think, boys?” Suddenly, he’s joined by a whole crew of Magic Mike wannabes, who also rip off their shirts.
They put on bow ties (because we fancy) and proceed to do a dance only a mother could love. Random guys pause and say things like “you’re the best” and “this is for you,” as the men stroke their abs and rip off their pants. Their briefs have an extra-special message for your mama, BTW. Honestly, you’ve just got to watch it for the full effect.
The video ends with the men suddenly dressed as KFC favorites, still gyrating to the music. As a mom who loves food, I am here for this. It’s hilarious, it has fried chicken … I mean, really, what else could a mom want for her special day, other than an actual bucket of chicken?
But people on social media are not all of the same mind-set, and they are having a field day with this. I’m just going to go ahead and let commenters take over. Here are some of the best ones:
Ay! Hands off meh mum!
Clearly, KFC is joking with this whole thing, but it actually kind of works. Whether your mom loves KFC or just has a wicked sense of humor, this just might the be the perfect cherry—err, chicken—on top of the already awesome Mother’s Day gift you’re getting her. Heck, I already sent it to three moms I know and I’ve dropped some serious hints to my husband that I want this to show up in my inbox.
