Sorry Ashton Kutcher, this is why it’s vital to wash your whole body daily

From their cute teen crushes on each other to their down-to-earth personalities, people adore Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher for so many reasons.

But many are struggling to get on board with their latest revelation.

Appearing on the Armchair Expert podcast, the couple shared their thoughts on hygiene practices – explaining they only wash certain parts of their body on a daily basis.

Ashton said: ‘I wash my armpits and my crotch daily, and nothing else ever.’

The actor added that he sometimes throws some water on his face after a workout ‘to get all the salts out.’

The duo also revealed they don’t believe in bathing their children – six-year-old Wyatt and four-year-old Dimitri – with soap every day. Instead, they wash them when they see physical dirt.

While kids might be able to get away with longer gaps between washes, for adults it’s another story.

Stephanie Taylor, intimate health expert and founder of Kegel8, explains that washing every day is vital for both our general health and for hygiene reasons. 

She tells Metro.co.uk: ‘There are countless health benefits from washing daily. For our general health, baths and showers can improve muscle function, increase blood flow and even help with fatigue. And for personal hygiene reasons – remember that, naturally, we sweat throughout the day. 

‘Whether this is on a short walk to the shops, when you’re cooking dinner or exercising at the gym – we are constantly sweating to stay healthy and keep our bodies at a comfortable heat.’

Because we are so active in day-to-day life – it’s therefore important to ensure we bathe regularly. 

Stephanie says: ‘By washing daily, we can ensure that any sweat is washed away to maintain a good scent and remove any bacteria collected throughout the day. By ridding our skin of harmful bacteria we can also prevent any skin issues from occurring.’

These regular showers are important as any perspiration left behind on skin can cause bacteria to multiply – and this can lead to rashes, breakouts and fungal infections.

Stephanie agrees that our intimate areas and armpits need regular washing – but adds these shouldn’t be substituted for other parts of the body.

She says: ‘It’s vital to wash around your intimate areas daily. While women should avoid using any harsh chemicals inside their vagina, the crotch area surrounding the genitalia can be particularly sweat prone.

‘Allowing the sweat and bacteria to breed can cause a host of problems, like infections or extreme odour.’

Stephanie stresses that it’s crucial not to neglect areas of the body – so Ashton’s ‘crotch and pits’ method is not a great blueprint to follow.

She adds: ‘Stay on top of daily washing where you can – particularly if you’re an active person who is likely to sweat more

‘Pay attention to all areas of the body and use natural, skin-friendly soaps, as bacteria can be collected anywhere and chemically scented products can irritate the skin too.’
