Dr Ellie Cannon advised against spending too much time on the toilet as it can lead to haemorrhoids or piles on ITV’s This Morning. There’s a certain amount of time you shouldn’t exceed and signs of health implications to spot.

The This Morning segment advised you shouldn’t spend more than 10 minutes on the toilet.

Dr Ellie said: “It’s not good for your back passage. It can cause haemorrhoids or piles.

“Those very painful and uncomfortable swellings, which are not very nice.”

She added: “Everyone should know this already, I don’t think this is news. People who grew up in the 40s and 50s were probably told this training when you are on the loo.”
