4 Ways To Track Progress Without Using A Scale

Raise your hand if you’ve ever assigned yourself a super ambitious health and fitness goal (lose 5kg, run a half-marathon,) only to lose motivation mid-way through. We get it, dw – it’s totally common to feel disheartened when you’re not seeing results.

But here’s an important reminder from someone in the know (aka former Biggest Loser trainer Tiff Hall). “Progress comes in more than kilos.”

“Over the years, I’ve seen unhealthy relationships with the scales do some serious damage,” she captioned a recent Instagram post. “I’ve seen it cause anxiety, fuel self doubt, diminish confidence, even decide self worth. How did we get here?” she continued. “The truth is, weighing ourselves is ingrained in us.”

Tiff believes this habit is one many of us were encouraged to pick up as children.

“Something we grew up seeing adults do; something that the health industry has pushed since day dot.”

And although she acknowledges that wanting to drop a dress size can be a healthy thing to strive for, an “obsession with the scales” is not.
