Chrissy Teigen's Popcorn Seasoning Hack Is the Sweet & Salty Goodness You Need In Your Life

When the stay-at-home orders first began, we were all about cooking the fancy and labor-intensive meals. We baked bread, cooked like Ina Garten and even tried our hand at plant-based recipes.  Sometimes we’re still down to whip up some beef bourguignon but we kind of wore ourselves out we’re really digging the low-maintenance meals and snacks right now and so is one of our favorite celebrities: Chrissy Teigen.

Popcorn is one of the easiest and quickest snacks imaginable but you definitely need some seasoning to really take it to the next level and Chrissy Teigen recently shared a popcorn seasoning recipe that at first, sounds odd but now we’re totally on board with it and are already drooling.

Teigen combines ranch seasoning with brown sugar, some parmesan cheese and a little cayenne pepper to create the kettle corn recipe we never knew we needed. Who would have thought ranch and brown sugar would be the perfect salty and sweet flavor combo of our dreams? Teigen posted the full recipe to her blog, Cravings and offered some suggestions for tweaks to the recipe if you are out of ranch. “If you don’t have a ranch packet, try using onion and garlic powder along with some salt and pepper,” Teigen wrote. “A taco seasoning packet is another idea, maybe a little grated parm?” YUM.

If you want to try this recipe at home, you’re going to need a few things first.

Dutch oven

Teigen makes her popcorn in a Dutch oven. You can also substitute this for your favorite microwave popcorn but making it on the stove truly does make it taste a million times better.

Seasoning

If you want to follow Teigen’s recipe exactly, you can purchase the same ranch seasoning she uses on Amazon.

Light brown sugar

This gives the popcorn its delicious sweetness.

Parmesan cheese

OK, I would never recommend cheese that comes in a plastic bottle any time other than for popcorn. This is to be used for popcorn and for popcorn only! Get the good stuff from an Italian grocer for all of your other recipes, OK, people?

Cayenne

And of course, you need something to add a little heat.

You’ll also need salt and pepper and oil but you probably have things in your pantry already. You can get the full recipe from Teigen’s blog, Cravings. Enjoy!
