Chrissy Teigen may have made a name for herself as a cook and kitchen connoisseur, but that doesn’t mean she’s the only one slaving away in the kitchen preparing meals for her family of four. In a recent interview with Hamptons magazine, John Legend discussed his and Teigen’s refreshing — and highly relatable — cooking strategy.
After speaking about his wine business, LVE, which features a robust lineup of chardonnay, cabernet sauvignon, sparkling brut blanc de blancs, red blend, rosé and the recently launched French sparkling rosé, Legend dished on what it’s really like cooking with Teigen.
“We don’t really cook together,” he tells the publication. “I cook for her; she cooks for me.”
Legend goes on to say Teigen’s more creative in the kitchen than he is, while he’s a strict recipe-follower — and that includes recipes from Teigen’s cookbooks.
“I’m very good at executing them. I’ll look them up online or literally in her book. I’m not really creative in the kitchen, but I love to cook,” he says.
Teigen tells Hamptons that his favorite recipe is Teigen’s French onion soup, which can be found in Teigen’s recently published cookbook, Cravings: Hungry for More.
“It’s incredible,” he says.
This isn’t the first time Legend has raved about Teigen’s French onion soup recipe, either. Back in October, Legend described the soup to Elite Daily as “gooey, juicy, delicious.”
“It makes me very happy,” he tells Elite Daily. “It’s classic, but she has a nice spin on it: a buttery croissant on top instead of the normal bread people put on top.”
Teigen may be a master at French onion soup and braised short rib, another one of Teigen’s dishes he says he can’t get enough of, but Legend can make a mean macaroni and cheese, thanks to his secret ingredient: garlic.
“I like to make macaroni and cheese. She loves my mac and cheese; the garlic is really important. I usually drink rosé with that,” Legend says.
Macaroni and cheese and rosé? We like the sound of that.
