When it comes to celebs and their impeccably sculpted bodies, Julianne Hough has arguably the best set of abs in Hollywood. And although one would assume that she follows a super strict diet and exercise regime to stay in such great shape, it turns out her food philosophy isn’t all that unrealistic.
When it comes to planning out her chow for the day, the 29-year-old actress/singer/dancer opts for whole foods such as protein, vegetables nuts and fruit.
“I try to stick with foods that don’t come in boxes,” she told Shape. “I don’t want a whole paragraph of ingredients in my body.”
“[My husband] and I generally eat protein and veggies. For a boost of energy, I mix in quinoa or rice sometimes.”
A woman after our own heart, she recently revealed to US Weekly she’s a massive fan of healthy carbs and makes sure she “fills up on them at every single meal.”
“Everybody is so afraid of carbs – they talk about them in a negative way, like, ‘Carbs make me fat or bloated’ – but just pick the right one and have a little bit.”
She also considers whole wheat bread and starchy veggies crucial “because they make my brain click on and everything else is able to function.”
“I thought they were my enemy, but they’re actually my best friend,” she added.
And when it comes to treats, Julianne believes the old adage, ‘everything in moderation including moderation’ is key.
“I want everyone to know I’m not Miss Perfect,” she said. “You can cheat every once in a while, and that’s OK. You can still have a fit body as long as you work out and eat relatively healthfully throughout your life.”
Her all-time fave cheat meal? Undoubtedly, pizza.
“I eat it a lot!” she admitted.
