Apple Cider Vinegar is a ‘miracle cure’ for coughs – here’s how it works

Apple Cider Vinegar is an ingredient which has been used in various ways for centuries.

And one of the oldest functions of the vinegar, which is made from fermented apple juice, is to soothe annoying coughs.

In fact, the Greek physician Hippocrates, the father of medicine, recommended a mixture of vinegar and honey to his patients to treat a cough.

And still to this day people are claiming Apple Cider Vinegar is a “miracle cure” for flu symptoms.

One Twitter user explained: “I still swear that 1tsp of raw (Braggs) Apple Cider Vinegar in a glass of water, add honey if you like, is a miracle cure!! Cured a cough I had for 13 months after having the flu.”

However, both have been used as a medicine/anticeptic for thousands of years.

Honey has antimicrobial properties, while the acid in Apple Cider Vinegar is believed to think out the mucous in the throat.

Apple Cider Vinegar is also rich in potassium, vitamin C, antioxidants and vitamin E which may all contribute to you feeling better.

Drinking Apple Cider Vinegar diluted in warm water can help ease congestion and reduce a tickly cough.
