Popular food blogger Ella Mills, known to her 1.6 million Instagram followers as Deliciously Ella, has paid tribute to her late mother-in-law, well-known U.K Labour minister Dame Tessa Jowell, by naming her newborn daughter after her.
Mills, 28, announced the news alongside a candid photograph with her husband Matthew, Ella celebrated the arrival of the couple’s first child Skye Tessa Camilla Davan Mills.
“Born in the pool at home yesterday afternoon. The most powerful, surreal, totally extraordinary moment.
“Beyond grateful to my husband for being a hero, the best support I could have ever imagined, our midwife and doula for making us feel so safe and supported and @kghypnobirthing for the inspiration, wisdom and guidance she shared, which empowered us more than I can explain.”
She added that the couple were already “completely in love” with the child. “Almost 24 hours of total bliss ? Haven’t slept for a second but never ever been happier.”
Ella became famous after starting the food blog Deliciously Ella in 2012 following her struggle with an auto-immune disease. She has subsequently written three books and pioneered the plant-based eating movement, challenging common misconceptions about what it means to be vegan.
The Guardian called her books “arguably the most successful fad diet cookbook series in recent years”.
