When a certain meal gets Meghan Markle’s royal stamp of approval, you know it’s gotta be good – and her standard brekkie fare is no exception to the rule.
In an interview with Eye Swoon back in 2017, the Duchess of Sussex revealed she likes to start her day with an “acai bowl, clean cleanse shake or a green juice.” Three epic options, if we do say so ourselves. (For those not in the know, acai berries are dark purple fruits found in the Amazon that are loaded with antioxidants.)
However, if she’s staying at a hotel and can’t whip anything up herself, she’ll “likely order poached eggs and toast with avocado.” As if she wasn’t already a woman after our own health-loving hearts.
On the other hand, her “ultimate food day,” is a smidge more indulgent (she is human, after all.)
“Breakfast of blueberry johnnycakes [cornmeal flatbreads] with extra crispy bacon and maple syrup,” she said. “Lunch of fish tacos and albarino cooked in my backyard on my ceramic grill (the big green egg). Dinner would be a beautiful rib eye and sautéed broccoli rabe (or a bowl of cavatelli pasta) and glass of Tig [a wine called Tignanello], of course.” Yes, to all of the above.
And for all those keen to jump on the acai bowl bandwagon, she also provided her go-to recipe. Win.
Ingredients and method:
“To keep this thick and frozen longer, keep your bowl in the freezer and serve your acai bowl in that,” she added.
We know what we’ll be having tomorrow. Cheers for the tip MM!
