Over the past year or so, Diet Coke has come out with a redesigned riff on the classic can (don’t worry—the original is still available) and introduced six new fruity flavors. Lest you thought the folks behind the OG Coca-Cola were resting on their laurels, though, they just dropped some mega news. For the first time in more than a decade—an entire 10 years, people!—Coca-Cola is launching a brand new flavor: Orange Vanilla.
This new flavor, which is being introduced as both classic Coke and Coke Zero, joins the ranks of the brand’s other flavored favorites, including Cherry Coke and Vanilla Coke. If your mind’s wandering to the same place mine did regarding the Orange Vanilla Coke, you’re in luck. Yes—I can confirm the soda tastes nearly identical to a creamsicle, just a little more cola-forward.
Expect the Coke version to hit you with more of that orange flavor upon first sniff—and, yep, it’s there in the taste, too. There’s major sweetness here, and if you like classic Coke more than Coke Zero, you’ll likely still reach for this one. The Orange Vanilla Coke Zero doesn’t smell or taste as orange-heavy. This can focuses on the vanilla, it seems.
Both varieties are hitting stores nationwide beginning February 25, and they’ll be available in 12-ounce cans and 20-ounce bottles. The Orange Vanilla flavor will also be available in Coke’s 12-ounce “sleek” cans—the tall, skinny ones—for a limited time, from March through May.
