When it comes to people doing their part to help others during the COVID-19 pandemic, Guy Fieri continues to shine. The beloved chef was on hand this week to help serve 1,200 meals to first responders in California, and he made each and every one a keepsake.
Guy brought his Stagecoach Smokehouse mobile kitchen to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital where he worked with local business owners and volunteers to serve meals of pulled pork, pasta with veggies, Caesar salad, and focaccia with caramelized onion and Parmesan, according to The Press Democrat. Guy and his team also served meals at two additional California hospitals this week: Sutter Santa Rosa Regional Hospital and Kaiser Permanente Medical Center.
As volunteers passed him meals, Guy signed each clamshell container with messages like “great work” and “thank you.”
“I don’t know how you guys walk in the door, knowing what you’re faced with,” he told local physician Mark Shapiro, according to the paper: “You guys are just warriors. You do this day and night.”
As PEOPLE noted, this is obviously not the only good work Guy has done to benefit his community during the outbreak. He has been working with The National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation to raise money for the Restaurant Employee Relief Fund which aims to give restaurant workers in need a one-time, $500 check. As part of his fundraising efforts for the fund, he’s done everything from creating a FlavorTown cooler to planning a Nacho-making contest against Bill Murray.
On top of ALL of this work, he’s also filming new episodes of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives at home. Honestly, we all have the same hours in a day as Guy Fieri and WHAT DO WE HAVE TO SHOW FOR IT??
