Meet Emma Stern Nielsen, the face of Seafolly’s latest summer campaign. This bubbly 24-year-old Dane grew up playing football and handball, until she was scouted in Copenhagen three years ago. WH chatted with Stern while she was shooting in Australia to discover her model secrets.
What’s your favourite bikini body workout?
I’m very simple with these things! I don’t do anything extraordinary or go on any crazy diets. I do a really good run, I think that’s good for everything in your body, in terms of being in good shape and also for your wellbeing.
Do you train with friends?
I really like to train by myself because going for a long run on your own is also something that clears your mind. I always do these things by myself and also I travel a lot alone so I really have to do it by myself!
Do you follow a special diet to keep you bikini ready?
I don’t do anything weird. I just use common sense about what I put into my body – as long as it’s good produce. I found that Australia is really nice because everything you eat here is fresh and clean. It’s really nice to come here and be able to try that because it’s not always so easy when you travel to have that luxury of fresh food.
Do you eat the airline food when you travel?
I kind of have to eat it otherwise I’ll starve! But it’s all about finding a good balance. Sometimes you eat something bad and that’s totally OK, you can’t worry too much about that, you just have to balance it out with something healthy.
Do you have any tricks for arriving fresh at your destination?
I get used to it – I’m really good at sleeping I have to say! I think of the time it would be at the destination and then adapt as soon as possible. Also, I just drink a lot of water and eat at the right times. Don’t compromise with what you eat even though you’re travelling. I think if you just stick to that, you’ll be OK.
You spend a lot of time in a bikini – what do you look for in a cossie?
I like Seafolly bikinis because it’s nice to go to the beach and feel comfortable. You don’t have to worry about how everything fits – and you don’t have like 50 pieces that are falling apart! I want to look pretty and feminine, but also just want to make it effortless and practical.
