Ground Beef Being Sold at Walmart & Other Stores Is Being Recalled for a Scary Reason

If you were planning on a big burger cookout for this weekend (with face masks, of course!), you may want to reschedule your plans — or at least your menu. Over 40,000 pounds of ground beef are being recalled for a pretty scary reason: possible E. coli contamination. According to a statement from the USDA, “Lakeside Refrigerated Services, a Swedesboro, N.J. establishment, is recalling approximately 42,922 pounds of ground beef products that may be contaminated with E. coli.”

The affected products were produced on June 1, 2020 and have the establishment number “EST. 46841” inside the USDA mark of inspection. Products were shipped nationwide.

The following products are subject to recall:

Marketside Butcher is primarily sold at Walmart so if you bought ground beef at Walmart between now and June 1st, you better check your package to make sure your meat is safe. There have been no reports of anyone getting sick from this beef yet, but it’s always better to be safe and throw it out if you do have one of the affected packages.
