“You can have high cholesterol without any symptoms at all,” said medical website Net Doctor.
“However, associated symptoms of high cholesterol can include the following: Chest pain, angina, heart attack, [and] stroke.
“Pain while walking – caused by blocked arteries that are unable to send blood to the legs [could be a sign of high cholesterol].
“You should have a full blood test every five years from when you are 20 years old and then at least every one or two years after 45 years, depending on your risk factors.”
But, just because you have a pain while walking, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you have high cholesterol.
It could be caused by a number of conditions, including diabetes and arthritis.
Meanwhile, you may also be at risk of high cholesterol if you develop a pain in your calves.
This pain may be caused by a narrowing of the arteries to the legs.
High cholesterol may be caused by eating lots of fatty foods, or by not doing enough exercise.
Obesity, smoking, and drinking lots of alcohol, all contribute to your cholesterol levels.
Medication can help to keep your cholesterol levels in check, but it’s also important to stick to a healthy diet, and to do regular exercise.
Everyone should aim to eat at least five portions of fruit and vegetables every day, as well as 150 minutes of exercise every week.
